Des tableaux circulent bien en iran, depuis longtemps, sans aucun problème, car en fait il est tout à fait possible de représenter Mahomet avant son « illumination ». Et d’ailleurs historiquement on pouvait même le représenter après, mais c’est peu à peu dans le temps que parfois il est devenu interdit de le représenter, et que par exemple dans les miniatures, à la place de son visage, on laissait un espace vide. Il y a même une artiste iraniene qui vend des dessins du prophète via Internet :
