dans les « Red Flags », le Rafale a toujours eu d’excellents résultats. C’est loi d’être un mauvais avion... et le Hornet est aussi vieux que lui : résultat les américains ont tout faux...

n effet, si les différents participants n’ont pas été particulièrement frappés par la capacité « swing role » du Rafale — les Su-30MKI, les F-15E Strike Eagle et F-15K Slam Eagle l’ont déjà — c’est indéniablement la précision des capteurs du Rafale et son armement air-sol « stand-off » qui ont épaté la galerie. «  Sur la Rafale la fusion des capteurs est un concept extraordinaire qui est très réussi. Il n’y a jamais eu de divergences de pistes entre les différents capteurs » a ajouté le commandant du 1/7. Le Rafale a été présent dans toutes les missions d’intérêt principal notamment au moins deux missions comme « mission commander ».. Au cours des missions de « self escort » ou « organic escort « , le Rafale/F2+ a permis de présenter le panel complet des capacités aériennes du nouvel avion. 

Les Américains ont, eux, lors des »mass debriefs", loué la précision des AASM. Chaque Rafale peut aujourd’hui traiter six objectifs d’un coup sur une surface étendue, chaque bombe de 250 kg ayant des coordonnées et une balistique propre. Plus encore, via la Liaison 16, un Rafale peut échanger en vol ses plans de tir avec un avion spatialement mieux placé. Chaque avion ayant de surcroît enregistré préalablement la totalité des scénarios possibles. Ainsi si un avion n’atteint pas son but un autre peut prendre sa suite et mener à bien la mission prévue. Voilà une arme nouvelle qui risque de donner au Rafale un réel atout sur la scène internationale.

Along with the Super Hornet, I think the Rafale is a very underestimated aircraft. Many comparisons are made between it and the Typhoon, with almost all respondents putting the Typhoon ahead (with the proposed Meteor as one common reason for the Typhoon’s supposed superiority, forgetting that the Rafale can also be armed with the Meteor).
It is well understood that the Rafale has an extremely capable electronic warfare suite, it’s avionics are very good, the RBE2 is comparable to the ECR90 in performance, with only the APG-77 having a distinct advantage over it, and the SPECTRA system seems to be quite an amazingly powerful electronic self-protection system. The SPECTRA can handle electromagnetic detection, laser warning, IR detection, missile launch/approach warning, jamming and chaff/flare launching. SPECTRA also provides passive long-range detection, indentification and location of threads and can automatically react or alert the pilot to threats.
The Thomson CSF/Detexis RBE2 is a passive array employing electronic scanning. RBE2 is very beam agile, and data processors are capable of performing well over 1 billion operations per second. It is quoted with a range in excess of 100km, and has a-a, a-g, dogfight and terrain following modes.

The only area where i feel the Rafale loses out over the Typhoon is that the Dassault product is slightly underpowered. This should be rectified with the M88-3 proposed for export models though...
What are your thoughts on the Rafale ? Btw, it also has to be one of the best looking planes out there, but then again, when have the French made an fighter ?
