Les pogroms en Europe et l’anti-judaïsme père putatif du sionisme, c’est une légende pour les bisounours, la réalité de cette création est bien plus prosaïque, elle bêtement coloniale, impérialiste. Bien avant la lettre de l’idéologie sioniste, dès 1882 le richissime Edmond de Rothschild achète des terres palestiniennes...
mais 40 ans avant lui, Lord Shaftesbury avait l’idée d’y « transfèrer » les Juifs non sans arrière-pensées mercantiles* « Memorandum to Protestant Monarchs of Europe for the restoration of the Jews to Palestine », published in the Colonial Times, in 1841
« A land without a people for a people without a land » ... "and
the Jews ...will probably return in yet greater numbers, and become
once more the husbandmen of Judaea and
Galilee."
(Une terre sans peuple et un peuple sans terre ... et les Juifs ... y retourneront probablement encore
en grand nombre, et deviendront une fois de plus les fermiers de Judée
et de Galilée !)
